Birth Story

On Monday, September 23, I started having contractions that would get up to five minutes apart for an hour or so, and then slowly go away.  This pattern of getting contractions that would get harder and be five minutes apart and then taper off lasted for several days.  On Thursday at my appointment with the doctor, I was measuring 3 cm dilated, and my doctor said he was pretty confident that Mia would come within the next couple of days.  On Friday night, my contractions got even more intense and were five minutes apart for about five hours, so Chris and I decided to go to the hospital.  When we got there, I was still only 3 cm dilated, so we got sent home at about 11:00 pm.  We got in bed and tried to sleep, but the contractions kept coming, now two minutes apart, and were getting quite a bit more intense.  I got up and tried distracting myself by cleaning up around the house and watching a movie.  At about 4:30 am, we left for the hospital again.  This time I was 5 cm dilated, so they sent us to the delivery room.  At 3:05 pm on Saturday, September 28, Mia was born! There's nothing like the feeling of seeing and holding our precious baby for the first time.

Mia was 7 lbs 6 oz and 20 inches long.  Her sweet little round, squishy face totally melted our hearts.

My Progress :)

8 months along...definitely feeling big!

37 weeks!

We're full term! According to our doctor, I'm about 1 cm dilated.  Not much, but hopefully we'll be meeting this baby sooner than later.

I can't wait to make this boy a dad! He is so cute with all of my nieces and nephews, and they ADORE him.  If there's ever a time that Chris isn't with me when I see these kids, they get so disappointed.  As soon as I walk in without Chris, they ask me where he is. If I tell them he won't be around that day, they get so sad :( My heart seriously melts when I see him interact with them.  It's one of my favorite things! I know that feeling will be multiplied by one hundred when it comes to seeing him with our own little girl.
Playing with Jonas.

They can't get enough.
I know how they feel

Even though I am so excited and can't wait to bring our little girl into the world, I'm cherishing every last moment I get to spend with Chris.  We're in for a huge change, and I know that it will never be quite the same.  All I can say is I love this boy more everyday, and I'm so grateful that he's mine.

Lucky Boy

Chris' follow up appointment was last Monday, and we were so excited that the doctor had good news for us.  After asking Chris about his pain and feeling around the ankle, the doctor told us he was surprised at how quickly Chris had recovered.  Apparently this boy is as good at healing as he is at breaking! :)

Chris can start slowly working himself back into activities like running, jumping, and playing basketball while wearing this brace.  When he is on flat ground and not doing anything to exert his ankle, he doesn't even need the brace.  This lucky boy avoided having a 3rd surgery in less than 2 years!
